HOLLOW KNIGHT: NEEDLEBOUND

... is a fan... thing idea I had. Okay, I don't know how to start this, but I've had a bunch of ideas for fan Hollow Knight things and I want to post them here so I can play Bingo with what'll appear in Silksong.
If anything I post here ends up predicting something in Silksong, yay me! Bragging and general smugness rights aplenty! If not, then well, at least you can use whatever I posted here for your own Hollow Knight fanstuffs. I wont mind. So entertain me for a minute!

It's about a tailor bug, Motley (who also appears in the to-be-made Bug Fables: The Unending Empire thingie, thus the title of the site, a tale of two tailors. cuz there's two motleys. and also two iannas. but we're getting off-track), who, uh. Fucking Dies. Sucks to Suck. I have it in my notes that he dies from an attackeven if in my head he dies from a shelf falling on him or something right now, and in the aftermath, he is possessed by his ancestral threading needles that held the soul of Iannathe spider lady you clicked to get here, a spider who wove with SOUL. With new life, a gnawing, growing temptation to peel back the world thread by thread and a deal to fulfill, Motley finds himself not only struggling for his life against the past and present of the fallen kingdom of Quillmark, but for his soul against Ianna, as he slides further into using her powers to survive and complete his end of the whole "getting revived" deal.

It's the character you control. Their death was negated by Ianna's magic, and their physical abilities have been tremendously boosted during the revival process. Unlike the Knight, they used to be their own character. Used to be. Maybe along the way he can change that?

The spider who revived Motley. She uses Quillmark's signature magic- the SOUL ARTS. The SOUL ARTS themselves are a fusion of artistry and SOUL magic, such as blacksmithing or engineering, and Ianna specifically weaves with SOUL.

In a more serious answer, she was inspired by Hornet herself to start changing her appearance, unsatisfied with how her own body looked. (She kept bumping into doorways.) At a milestone during her change, she broke her own head apart and unleashed what she weaved within. She never quite finished the body before Quillmark fell.

THE REST OF THE IDEAS THAT I WROTE BUT COULDN'T FIT IN TIME BECAUSE SILKSONG IS LIKE 2 DAYS AWAY AS OF WRITING

ABILITIES, SPELLS AND CHARMS

- Instead of focusing to heal, Motley builds back health via inflicting damage with his needles (so it's melee, basically). It's to make them fight more aggressively compared to OG Hollow Knight. The actual ability behind it is called THE NEEDLE'S SIPHONDamaging not only restores SOUL, but heals you, through stitching the wounds that have previously ended you. The stitches holding you together are rather frail though, and are temporarily reduced by taking damage..
- There is a charge attack. It can be substituted with a parry via the QUILT OF THE HIVESubstitutes the charged attack for a parry. Restores 2 stitches (health) on success..
- You gain access to a walljump, a projectile-based super dash thingie ala Haiku, and the ability to greatly enhance your next attack via the WHETSTONEAllows Motley to scale walls, unlocking the world wide open., the YARN THREADAllows Motley to fire off a needle in a direction, zipping him to the direction of the fired needle. and the FAVOR VIALBreak to call upon Ianna, greatly enhancing your next non-basic attack. Recharges every 20 seconds, but you can accelerate the charge by sacrificing SOUL. respectively.
- You gain the ability to travel into Quillmark's past via manipulating the World Quilt, a mastercraft of the SOUL ARTS that weaves the entire kingdom into existence, and maintains said existence.

BOSSES (and the Godmaster equivalent)

- Bosses are rematched in the Godmaster equivalent, which is a gallery in Quillmark. Noticed the artsy theme yet? Anyways, there's only a few of them.

- The Mechanical Monstrosity: A machine boss, very steampunky in look, fighting to protect creators long gone.
- Metalworkers Touto and Toorsan: Creators of the Mechanical Monstrosity above, fought in the past of Quillmark. The two totally figured out what led to Quillmark falling. You'd think they're siblings, but their exact relation to each other is shrouded in that Wario and Waluigi mystery.
- Erinal, the Gate: Turns out Ianna was on that gaslight gatekeep girlboss grindset because this is, according to my notes, her lover that she fused with the World Quilt to destroy Quillmark. Oops, spoilers. Penultimate boss.
- Ianna, the Weaver: Along the fan thingie Motley gets the opportunity to betray Ianna. If he succeeds, well, this boss fight happens. Final boss.
- Idealized Self: Absolute Radiance equivalent of Ianna. No longer is she cloaked, because she got to add several finishing touches to her form. Her current form (the one you see) is incomplete.

"Motley, we fucked up."
